DOT Gives Update on Station 1 of Boracay Island
BORACAY ISLAND – The Department of Tourism (DOT) posted two photos of the Station 1 of Boracay Island.
One of the most prominent tourist spots in the Philippines is Boracay Island. It gathers both local and foreign vacationers most especially during the summer season. It is not only a vacation place but as well as a venue for certain occasions.
In Boracay, there are lots of accommodation establishments. Excellent hotels and resorts are scattered on the island and many take an early reservation prior to their trip to the island as it really gathers a huge number of guests.
However, recently, the Boracay Island is closed for rehabilitation following the order of Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. The island is set to be closed for six months. It was on April 26 when the rehabilitation officially started.
Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Roy Cimatu leads the rehabilitation procedures. There were pipelines discovered and it added more work. Meanwhile, the DENR is confident that the island will open on October 2018.
In fact, compliant resorts and hotels were already given the green signal to accept early bookings from guests. Non-compliant hotels and resorts need to comply to the environmental rules and laws so they can re-open.
Meanwhile, despite the reopening of Boracay Island in October, Department of Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat has expressed in ANC that the island won’t anymore be a party place. There is also a possibility that the capacity would be limited.
Recently, on its official Twitter account, the DOT posted two photos showing the station one of the island. It cleanliness of the white sand beach is notable.

How to get there?
To get to Boracay Island, the fastest and most convenient way is through a plane travel to Caticlan Airport or Godofredo P. Ramos Airport.
