One Bacolod Festival that attracts tourists is the Bacolaodiat Festival.

BACOLAODIAT FESTIVAL – Bacolod City in Negros Occidental Province has a unique way of celebrating the Chinese New Year.

The Chinese New Year is not only celebrated in China. The Asian country’s neighboring nations including the Philippines, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Singapore are also celebrating the event which is also called as Lunar New Year or Spring Festival based on a report.

In the Philippines, one city in the province of Negros Occidental in the Visayas region celebrates the Chinese New Year through a unique festival.

Named after the name of the city, Bacolod, and the Lao Diat which is are significant terms in the celebration, the said city in Negros celebrates the Bacolaodiat Festival. For this year, the activities start on February 15 and end on February 18.

Colorful giant lanterns are now out in the main streets of Bacolod City and the people could really feel the essence of the Bacolaodiat Festival. During the celebration, the main roads that are essential for the celebration are usually close and there is re-routing.

Lantern Dance competition, Table Tennis competition, Love Radio dance showdown, Parade of Mascots, and other fun activities are to be held during the festival celebration. There are also fireworks and dog shows to be held.

The Chinese New Year celebration in Bacolod City is undeniably one-of-a-kind. That is why many people, even those who are from other places, come to the city to witness the annual Bacolaodiat Festival.
